The standard we expect
NollywoodCV exists so that actors, crew, filmmakers and companies can find each other and work together with confidence. Every profile, credit, listing, message and review should be something you would be comfortable defending in front of a producer, a casting director and the person it concerns.
These guidelines apply to everything on the Platform: profiles, credits, film pages, applications, jobs and auditions, Film Market listings and notes, Film Hub events, Fund My Film campaigns, ads, articles and reports. They are part of the Terms and Conditions.
Be honest about who you are and what you have done
- Use your real name or your established professional (stage) name.
- Do not create a profile for another person, or pretend to be a person, company, guild, agency or NollywoodCV.
- Claim only credits, roles, awards, training and experience that are true. Do not add yourself to a film you did not work on, or tag people who were not on it.
- Use photographs of yourself that are reasonably current and that you have the right to use.
- One account per person. Do not create extra accounts to get around a limit, a suspension or the referral rules.
Respect other people
- No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation or repeated unwanted contact, on or off the Platform, using details found here.
- No hate speech or discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, tribe, religion, sex, disability or any other personal characteristic.
- No sexual advances or requests in professional contact. Casting and hiring decisions must never depend on sexual favours.
- Criticism of work is welcome; personal attacks and false statements about people are not.
Never pay to audition
Nobody may ask for money to audition, apply, register, be shortlisted or be cast. This includes "form fees", "registration fees", "audition fees", "processing fees" and payment for a "guaranteed role". NollywoodCV never asks for such payments.
Listings or ads that ask for these payments are removed, and the account behind them may be closed. If anyone asks you for such a payment, do not pay, and report it.
Scams, fraud and misleading listings
- No fake jobs, fake auditions, fake productions or fake companies.
- No scams, "double your money" offers, fake giveaways, pyramid schemes or requests for passwords, card details or one-time codes.
- No listings for equipment, locations, scripts or services that are not yours to offer, or that do not exist.
- No false prices, fake reviews or misleading claims.
- No Fund My Film campaign for a project that does not exist, or that uses donations for something other than what was described.
Safety, exploitation and young people
- Nothing that facilitates human trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced labour or any activity that endangers a person.
- Auditions and meetings must take place in safe, professional settings. A poster must never insist that a performer come alone to a private home or hotel room.
- Young performers (under 18) must be represented by a parent or guardian, who must be told about and present for auditions and meetings. Nothing sexual involving a person under 18 is ever allowed.
- Nudity or intimate scenes must be described clearly in a listing in advance. Performers may decline them without penalty.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact the police or emergency services first, then tell us.
Content that is not allowed
- Pornography or sexually explicit material, and sexual content involving anyone under 18 under any circumstances.
- Graphic violence or gore posted to shock, and content that encourages violence, self-harm or terrorism.
- Content that is defamatory, or that breaks Nigerian law.
- Films, scripts, music, photographs or logos you do not have the right to share (see the Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy).
- Malware, harmful downloads, fake login pages and links that try to collect passwords or payment details.
- Spam, chain messages and repeated identical posts.
Other people's personal data
- Use contact details you find on NollywoodCV only for professional contact about the industry.
- Do not copy, export, sell or publish other members' personal data, and do not add people to mailing lists or groups without their consent.
- Do not share another person's private information, such as their address, identity documents, or private audition videos, without their permission.
- Recruiters must use applicants' videos, photographs and details only to consider them for the role, and must not share them outside the production.
Using the Platform fairly
- No bots, scrapers or automated sign-ups, and no attempts to break, overload or get around the Platform's limits and security.
- Do not put phone numbers or email addresses in titles, pictures or other places designed to get around the Film Market's contact rules.
- Do not misuse report buttons. False or revenge reports are themselves a breach of these guidelines.
Extra rules for each area
Each area has further rules:
- Jobs, casting calls and auditions: the Job and Audition Listing Policy.
- Films, credits, companies and posters: the Film Credits, Film Listings and Verification Policy.
- The Film Market: the Film Market Policy.
- Ads: the Advertising Policy.
- Fund My Film: the Crowdfunding and Donations Policy (Fund My Film).
Film Hub events. Events must be real film-industry events, described accurately (date, place, price and organiser). Every new event and every change to a live event is checked by NollywoodCV before it shows. Organisers who need to cancel must ask through the event page, so that the people who marked Going or Interested are told.
How to report a problem
Signed-in members can report directly from the page concerned:
- Jobs and auditions: "Report this listing" on the listing.
- Film Market: "Report this listing" on the listing.
- Ads: the report link on the ad.
- Films and companies: "Report wrong details" on the film or company page.
- Film Hub events and Fund My Film campaigns: the report button on the event or campaign page.
- A profile created by NollywoodCV that duplicates yours: "This person already has a profile" on that profile.
For anything else, including impersonation, harassment, a fake profile or a safety concern, email info@nollywoodcv.com or WhatsApp +234 805 053 3253 with the page address, what happened and any screenshots. Reports are confidential: we do not tell the person reported who reported them.
What NollywoodCV does
NollywoodCV reviews reports and acts in proportion to how serious the problem is and whether it has happened before. We may:
- ask for a correction, or correct or remove content ourselves;
- pause a listing, ad, event or campaign while we look into it. Some areas pause automatically after enough members report the same item;
- suspend features, or suspend or close an account;
- keep records and report the matter to the police, the Nigerian Copyright Commission or another authority where the law requires or a crime may have been committed.
Suspension or closure for breaking these guidelines is not refunded (see the Subscription, Billing and Refund Policy).
Asking for a review
If you think we made a mistake, reply to the notification or email info@nollywoodcv.com within 14 days, explaining why. We will look at the decision again, with anything new you send us, and tell you the result. The Complaints and Dispute Resolution Policy explains the full process.
