What the Film Market is
The Film Market is a notice board for the film industry on NollywoodCV. It helps members find crew services, equipment, locations, props, costumes, vehicles, scripts and projects, investors and partners, and distribution or streaming opportunities.
No payments happen on the Film Market, and there is no checkout or chat. Members agree prices, contracts and payment directly with each other, outside NollywoodCV.
The Film Market can be switched off by NollywoodCV at any time. When it is off, its pages are not available.
Types of listings
- Pitch
- A script, project or finished film looking for investors, co-producers, producers, directors, cast, distributors, streaming or TV platforms, or sponsors. A pitch shows its stage (from idea to finished), genre, budget range and, for finished films, the rights and territories available. Only the logline and teaser are public.
- Rent · Sell · Hire
- Equipment, locations, props, costumes, vehicles and other items offered for rent, for sale or for hire.
- Services
- Professional services offered to productions, such as crew services, post-production, design, legal or other services, with the member's availability.
- Looking for
- A request from a member who needs something: a location, a piece of equipment, a service, a partner or a project.
Who may post and who may respond
- Anyone can browse the Film Market without an account.
- Only Premium members can post listings, up to 10 live listings at a time.
- Signed-in members with a verified email address can send "I'm interested" (up to 20 a day), save listings and set alerts.
Accurate listings and availability
- Offer only what is yours to offer, or what you are authorised to offer by its owner.
- Describe items, locations and services honestly, including their condition, price or how the price is agreed, location and availability.
- Use your own photographs of the actual item or place. Only photographs can be uploaded; trailers and screeners are shared as links.
- Close a listing as soon as the item or service is no longer available, and keep availability up to date.
Interest, acceptance and contact details
- A member presses "I'm interested" and may add a short note.
- The poster receives a notification and can accept, decline or block the request. A member who is declined can ask again after 3 days.
- Only after the poster accepts can the interested member see the poster's name, CV, phone number and email address, and, for a pitch, the full pitch. Before that, phone numbers and email addresses typed into notes are hidden automatically.
- The poster decides whether people they accept may download a pitch deck, or may only view it.
- A few days after a request is accepted, both members are asked whether a deal was made. With both members' agreement, a completed deal can be shown on the Success Wall.
Protecting pitches
- Each listing receives a dated reference (for example NCV-PITCH-0043), which records that it was posted by its owner on that date.
- People who are accepted to see a full pitch must agree not to copy, share or use it without the owner's written permission.
- The Film Market is not a copyright registry. For stronger protection, register your script with the Nigerian Copyright Commission and keep dated drafts. Story ideas on their own may not be protected by copyright, so share only what you are comfortable sharing.
Deals are between members
Any rental, sale, hire, service agreement, investment, co-production or distribution deal is only between the members involved. NollywoodCV is not a party to it, does not hold money, does not inspect items, locations or services, and does not guarantee delivery, quality, payment or results.
Before paying or handing over anything:
- check the other member's profile and history, and inspect items and locations in person where possible;
- put the terms in writing: price, dates, deposit, damage, cancellation, rights and credits;
- for investments and rights deals, get independent legal and financial advice;
- never pay anyone simply to send interest, to be accepted or to audition. NollywoodCV never asks for that.
What is not allowed
- Asking for money upfront to apply, audition, be accepted or see a listing.
- Offering work, property, equipment, scripts or rights that are not yours to offer, or stolen or counterfeit goods.
- Fake, misleading, offensive or spam listings, and investment offers that promise guaranteed or unrealistic returns.
- Putting contact details in titles, photographs or other places to get around the contact rules.
- Illegal items or services, including weapons, drugs, and pirated copies of films.
- Uploading documents. Only photographs can be uploaded.
How long listings last
- A listing stays live for 30 days. The poster gets a reminder 7 days before the end and can renew it.
- After a listing closes, the poster has 7 days to renew it. After that, its photographs and notes are deleted and only the record of the listing is kept.
- If the poster's Premium ends, live listings stay until they close, but new listings cannot be posted and closed listings cannot be renewed until Premium is renewed.
Reports and enforcement
- Use "Report this listing" on any listing. NollywoodCV reviews every report.
- A listing reported by 10 members is paused automatically until NollywoodCV checks it.
- NollywoodCV may edit for format, pause or remove listings that break this policy, and may take account action under the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy.
NollywoodCV's role and limits
NollywoodCV provides the listing and introduction tools only. To the extent the law allows, NollywoodCV is not responsible for any loss, damage, injury, fraud or dispute arising from a Film Market listing or a deal between members. If something goes wrong with a deal, report the listing and contact us; we can remove the listing and act on the account, and you may also contact the police or seek legal advice. The limits in the Terms and Conditions apply.
