Job and Audition Listing Policy

Last updated Nollywood CV Limited · www.nollywoodcv.com

Rules for everyone who posts or applies for a job, casting call or audition on NollywoodCV: who may post, what a listing must say, what is banned, how applications and uploaded files are handled, and how to report a problem.

Kinds of listings

Job
Paid or unpaid work for crew and other non-acting roles (for example cinematographer, editor, make-up artist, production manager).
Open audition
Actors record a self-tape, post it on their own social media or video account, and send the link through NollywoodCV.
Closed audition
Actors upload a self-tape and photographs directly to NollywoodCV. Only the poster (and NollywoodCV) can watch them.
Physical audition
An announcement of an in-person audition at a stated place, date and time, with optional characters and scripts. Members register their interest; where places are limited, the poster confirms places, others join a waiting list, and confirmed members receive a pass code.

Who may post and who may apply

  • Posting a job or audition requires an active Premium membership. The poster must be 18 or older and must be the person, production or company recruiting, or be authorised by them.
  • Applying is open to every signed-in member with a verified email address, free or Premium. Some listings have limits set by the poster (for example gender, age range, location or language). Apply only if you honestly meet them.
  • Each member may apply once to each listing. An application can be withdrawn from My Applications until it receives a final answer.

What every listing must say

Listings must be true and complete enough for people to decide whether to apply. The poster must state honestly:

  • the production or company and a contact name;
  • the roles or characters, and any age, gender, language or location requirements;
  • the location, and the shooting or working period where known;
  • whether the work is paid and, where possible, the pay or how it will be agreed;
  • for auditions, what the actor must send or prepare, and the closing date; for physical auditions, the venue, date and time;
  • any nudity, intimate scenes, stunts, travel or other demands, in advance.

Listings are published at once and are seen by the whole NollywoodCV community. NollywoodCV does not check every listing before it appears, so the poster is fully responsible for it.

Listings that are not allowed

Never ask applicants for money. No audition fee, form fee, registration fee, "processing" fee, training fee as a condition of being considered, or payment for a role.

  • Fake or speculative listings, listings for productions that do not exist, and "listings" that are really adverts or sales.
  • Listings that ask for sexual content, nudity in an audition, or private meetings in homes or hotel rooms.
  • Listings that discriminate unlawfully. Casting requirements that are genuinely needed for a character (such as age range or gender) are allowed.
  • Listings that collect personal data for other purposes, such as building contact lists.
  • Listings that copy another production's casting call without permission.
  • Duplicate listings for the same role.

Posting, editing and closing

  • Jobs are posted with the job form and stay open for the application period the poster chooses. The poster can close a job, reopen it, reset its application period or delete it from Manage Jobs.
  • Auditions are posted with the audition builder: kind of audition, characters (up to 20), optional script pages, what to send, and the opening and closing dates. An audition can be scheduled to open later. The kind of audition cannot be changed after posting.
  • The poster can edit a live listing. Changes should not alter a listing in a way that misleads people who already applied.
  • When a listing closes, it stops taking applications. Closed listings stay visible as a record, marked closed.
  • If Premium ends, listings already posted are not deleted, but the poster cannot post new listings until Premium is renewed.

Applying

  • An application sends the poster your NollywoodCV profile and anything the listing asks for: answers, a video or a video link, headshot and full-body photographs, or confirmation that you will attend.
  • Everything you send must be your own work and a true picture of you. Recordings of scripts may be used only for that audition.
  • You receive a confirmation email when an application is sent, and notifications when you are shortlisted, selected or not selected, when the listing closes, and when the poster sends you a note.
  • Make your profile complete before applying. Posters often look at the profile first.

Self-tapes, photographs and scripts

  • Closed-audition videos must be 100 MB or smaller, and no longer than the length the poster sets (1 or 2 minutes). Larger videos are refused, and the page explains how to make a video smaller. Photographs must be 10 MB or smaller.
  • Videos and photographs are stored privately. Only the poster and NollywoodCV can open them, through links that expire after a few minutes.
  • Files are deleted 60 days after the audition closes. Posters get a reminder 7 days before, so they can download anything they need to keep. If a poster cancels an audition, its videos and photographs are deleted at once. The application record (name, status and dates) remains.
  • Script pages uploaded by a poster (PDF, up to 5 MB) are shown to applicants for the audition only. The poster must have the right to share them, and applicants must not copy or share them.

Reviewing applicants and giving answers

  • Posters review applications in their dashboard, see which ones they have viewed, and can shortlist, select or decline applicants. Shortlisting, selection and refusal each send the applicant a notification.
  • Posters should give every applicant an answer. If an applicant is still waiting 30 days after an audition closes, NollywoodCV marks the application "Not selected" automatically, so nobody waits forever.
  • A "selected" status is not a contract. Terms of work (fees, dates, rights and credits) must be agreed directly between the production and the performer or crew member, preferably in writing.
  • If a poster does not reply, it usually means another applicant was chosen. NollywoodCV cannot make a poster respond or choose anyone.

How posters may use applicants' details

When you apply, the poster receives your personal data, including your phone number and email address, and can download a list of applicants. Posters must:

  • use applicants' details, videos and photographs only to consider them for the listed role or work;
  • keep them secure, not publish them, and not share them outside the production team;
  • not add applicants to mailing lists or use their details for unrelated marketing; and
  • delete downloaded files they no longer need for the production.

A poster who misuses applicants' data may lose access to the Platform and may also be responsible under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

What NollywoodCV does and does not do

NollywoodCV provides the tools to post, apply and review. We are not the employer, casting director or agent, we do not take a share of fees, and we do not guarantee that a listing is genuine, that a production will happen, that applicants will be contacted, or that anyone will be paid. Check a poster's profile and company, meet in safe professional settings, and never pay to audition.

Reports and complaints

Use "Report this listing" on the listing page and choose the reason: spam, misleading or fake details, inappropriate content, a scam or fraudulent recruiter, a duplicate, or another reason with a description. Reports go straight to NollywoodCV for review. For urgent safety concerns, also email info@nollywoodcv.com or WhatsApp +234 805 053 3253.

Action we may take

NollywoodCV may edit for format, close or remove any listing that breaks this policy, and may suspend or close the poster's account under the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy. Premium payments are not refunded when a listing or account is removed for breaking the rules.
