Our approach
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, personal data must be kept no longer than is needed for the purpose it was collected for. NollywoodCV therefore deletes files that are only needed for a short time automatically, keeps account information while your account exists, and keeps a small number of records for longer only where the law or a legitimate need (such as a payment dispute or fraud) requires it.

What is deleted automatically
Automatic deletions are carried out by the Platform's scheduled tasks. Where it is useful, the person concerned is warned first; for example, a poster is told 7 days before audition videos are deleted, so they can download what they need. Deleted files cannot be recovered by NollywoodCV.
When you close your account
To close your account, email info@nollywoodcv.com from your account email address. We may ask you to confirm the request. When we close the account:
- your account, profile, photographs and credits are deleted, and you no longer appear on film pages;
- your live listings, ads and events are taken down;
- Automatic Payment is stopped, and any Premium time left ends without a refund;
- a Fund My Film campaign that is still live must be ended first; its donation records are kept as financial records;
- material you shared with others before closing (for example an application a poster already downloaded) may remain with them, and is their responsibility under the law.
Asking us to delete or correct data
- Most profile details can be corrected or removed at any time in your dashboard.
- To ask for a copy of your data, a correction you cannot make yourself, or deletion of particular data, email info@nollywoodcv.com from your account email address.
- For a profile created by NollywoodCV, or a Legacy profile, the person concerned or their family can ask us to correct, hide or remove it.
We respond as soon as we can and within the time allowed by the NDPA and the GAID. If we cannot delete something, we will tell you why.
What we may have to keep
Even after a deletion request, we may keep the minimum information needed to:
- meet tax, accounting and other legal duties (for example payment and donation records);
- deal with an open payment, dispute, complaint, report or investigation;
- prevent fraud and stop a closed account being reopened to avoid a suspension; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Backups and copies held by others
Deleted information may remain for a short time in backups kept by our hosting provider, until those backups are replaced. Backups are used only to restore the Platform after a failure. Copies made by other people (for example, a screenshot or a downloaded file) and pages saved by search engines are outside our control, but we can ask search engines to refresh a page that has changed.
